Melanie Buhlman is a nursing lecturer and PhD Candidate at the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Western Australia.
She is conducting a research study on the organisational support for nurses and midwives in Australia, following clinical incidents.
This phase of the project seeks nurses and midwives who have been involved in a clinical incident, and invites them to engage in a one-on-one interview.
The interview is expected to take 30-60 minutes, and can be conducted face-to-face, or online.
Study Purposes
The study explores the availability and effectiveness of organisational support designed to meet the needs of nurses and midwives following involvement in clinical incidents across various settings in Australia.
It is anticipated that the findings of this study will provide a valuable source of guidance for healthcare leaders, managers and other clinicians about effective support following clinical incidents, which may counteract the potentially unsettling experience and retain nurses and midwives in our health workforce.
